Oh I just love the Komo
grain mill so much.
Since my review, I'm still very happy with
my grain mill so I'm so SO excited to be able to share a mill with one of you!
Not exact matches
The flour is
milled from hard wheat from Colorado, the Dakotas, and Montana,
so the «high altitude» refers to where the
grain is grown - some people feel that
grain grown at high altitude is healthier than other
grains.
There's something
so elemental, primitive about setting bacteria loose in
milled grains to feast!
If you are worried about the end of the world, I'd look at driving a hand powered
mill with a bicycle
so you could pedal grind the
grain.
More interestingly, many of these
mills contract with farmers
so they can track the varieties of
grain as well as the farmer's results.
An issue with stone
mills is that the
grain wore them down,
so the stones needed to be sharpened, or dressed, to keep the
mill producing top quality flour.
I'm going to have to buy a
grain mill when we go back to the US because whole spelt is
so expensive there but winning one would be neater.
That's
so neat that you got a
grain mill to give away!
In other words, there aren't many organic
grain growers in Alabama,
so there's a lack of organic
mills,
so there aren't many organic
grain growers.
I plan on purchasing a
grain mill soon
so I'll be experimenting with using different coarsenesses of the oat flour to see how it affects the texture of the bread.
Once the
grains / seeds are
milled they start oxidizing and loosing the nutrients
so blending / grinding the
grains that are soft enough in the actual preparation keeps the nutrients «safe»
Y ’ all won't believe me that the taste of freshly
milled grain is
so different than store bought, it tastes
so fresh, nutty and almost sweet... it's just one of those things you have to taste for yourself!
So give the gift of a quality

so - fresh - it's - sticky - on - the - inside bread (made with whole
grains milled in - house) is always a highlight
The flour
milling process removes the protective fiber - rich coating around these starches and proteins,
so we are much more exposed to them than if we eat the
grains whole.
The
grains are sprouted, and made without
milled flour,
so this bread also touts the benefits of increased digestibility, increased vitamins (like B and C), and easier absorption of minerals.
It is
so tiny that most
grain mills can't even grind it into flour!
I love to celebrate the goodness of natural wholefood ingredients,
so my base ingredients comprise of wholegrain organic flours
milled in the UK, whilst using some interesting
grains from abroad too, unrefined sweeteners like raw Suffolk honey, coconut sugar and brown sugar, cold - pressed extra virgin British rapeseed oil, organic dairy products and free - range eggs.
I love that the Mockmill is an attachment
so it doesn't take up all the space that an actual
grain mill would!
In essence, brewer's rice is the leftover material that would otherwise be thrown away —
milled rice kernels are only about 50 % to 65 % the original size of the whole
grain kernel,
so brewer's rice is only about 25 % the size of the original.
Milling also removes dietary fiber, iron, and many B vitamins,
so refined
grains provide little nutrition but still contain the same number of calories.
I'm no expert
so I can only judge things that have been through the peer review
milling process and the quality of the
grain that comes out the other side and makes it to market.
We're relying on the GFXBench spotting for the Huawei P10's specs,
so take all this with a
grain of salt, as with most tidbits spewed out by the rumor
mill.
