When we study centenarian diets in detail, we note that over 80 percent of calories in their diet comes from vegetables, fruit, legumes, and complex carbohydrates, such as whole

rice, oats, and
sweet potatoes.
Be sure to consume only complex carbs like whole
grain bread, whole
grain pasta, brown
rice, oats,
sweet potatoes and lots of vegetables.
Serve with whole -
grain rice or
sweet mashed potatoes for a filling, healthy carbohydrate side.
Notes: Short -
grain rice produces a very
sweet drink, and medium -
grain less
sweet.
Instead of cutting out all pasta and breads, switch to whole
grain products such as brown
rice, whole
grain breads, quinoa,
sweet potato and so forth.
By eating low GI carbsâ $» such as oatmeal, whole
grain bread, brown
rice, and
sweet potatoesâ $» you'll have more energy so you can work out longer and harder, which can help you burn more fat.
I have not given up carbs, but I try to stick with sprouted
grains,
sweet potatoes and brown
rice — in much smaller quantities than in the past.
Carbs that are considered good are usually the whole
grains (think brown
rice and the newly beloved quinoa), sprouted
grain bread, and root veggies like
sweet potato.
