the grains are toasted in butter - this must be incredibly delicious.

the grains were toasted in heavenly butter and salt, the water was added and brought to a boil, gave it a stir, turned off the heat, and put the lid on.

If you
're still eating a sugar - filled,
grain - heavy breakfast (bagels, pancakes,
toast, cereal) this
is among the worst choices for the morning.
My favourite
is the tomato and coconut bowl which
is filled with coconut and tomato short
grain brown rice, avocado,
toasted almonds and sprouts — it
's like a hug in a bowl!
However, if you have diabetes / pre-diabetes and you
are including bananas as part of a whole meal then I would just balance them with some healthy fat (avocados, nuts, etc.) You could have a banana on top of a piece of sprouted whole
grain toast with some almond butter and that would
be a good option.
My pitaya smoothie bowl has
toasted cashews which satisfy the crunch - factor for that recipe, but oodles of crunch-less pitaya bowls in Bali (I know, I
'm not getting any sympathy) inspired me to create a 100 %
grain - free granola.
As this
grain free zucchini banana bread
is quite soft,
toasting in the pan just makes for easier handling all round.
Whole
grain crackers or
toast would
be two delicious options that have even more fiber in them.

My tips for quinoa
are (1) soak quinoa in cold water beforehand to get rid of the bitter taste; (2)
toast your quinoa — it tastes nuttier; (3) use a bit less than a 2:1 liquid:
grain ratio, as more water makes for soggy quinoa; (4) cook in vegetable stock instead of water and add in flavorings like smashed garlic, peppercorns and fresh thyme or rosemary sprigs.
I have not tried powdered pb — nor have I tried IHOP's Harvest
Grain and Nut Pancakes with Blueberries nor have I EVER had french
toast filled with peanut butter and jelly - gosh I
am missing out!
Re, fattening dishes, this
is hard because people have different ideas of what unhealthy foods
are, but you can use them in
grain salads, pasta salads, they might
be good in an omelet or maybe on a sliced of whole -
grain toast with cheese broiled on top (a modified pizza, heh).
It
is the perfect low sugar way to add all kind of fruity goodness to anything, from yogurt to
toast to
grain - and - refined - sugar - free hamentashen (coming later this week).

A while ago my friend Amanda (it
's her amazing and florescent carrot butter on that little whole
