The kids and I have always enjoyed
making cookies together — from back in the
days of store bought «slice n bake» to gluten free mixes to to homemade
grain free.
These are
made with whole
grain oat flour to keep you full all
day long, sweetened naturally with dates, and have added nutritional punch from flaxseeds.
I often
make a large
grain / bean salad and eat it over a few
days as they tend to keep well in the fridge.

Today I will be
making another version of this since her recipe calls for rejuvelac and I don't feel like waiting several
days for the
grains to sprout and then for the liquid to ferment.
This year at the festival I spoke about sprouted wheat and other sprouted
grains (sprouted
grain is my big theme these
days), and
made two types of sprouted flour loaves using cooked
grain in the dough.
From time to time, even as an adult, I'll get a craving for my childhood favorite although these
days I know enough to
make my sandwich with a healthier whole
grain bread.

Use leftovers from the previous
day's dinner or fix yourself a sandwich with whole
grain bread or
make a salad the evening before.
Most
grain free cookies I have found are just best eaten the same
day they are
made.
I used this recipe with the base and topping ingredients, plus veggie pulp from 3
days of juicing to
make the best
grain free bread ever!
I thought I was gluten resistant, so I
made some brown rice spaghetti with mushrooms with, I have been sick all
day so I guess I need to give up all
grains so I need help.
As I wanted to
make an almond milk kefir, I strained the kefir and washed the wee
grains thoroughly and started the kefir process again, by putting the kefir
grains and a good dose of almond milk in a jar, popping the lid on and allowing it to sit for a
day or two.
Now, I can't say that I've sorted all of this out, but in order to watch our carb intake, I've been
making more
grain - free goodies these
days.
Like most
grain free baked goods, it's best the
day it's
made.

This cake recipe is all natural and isn't
made with fancy flour, it's regular whole
