For those that like to know about substitutions — I always use honey instead of agave nectar and did so here; I did use
grapeseed oil here because it was the first time and I wanted to not vary the recipe the first time much but I will use coconut or palm oil next time as they seem to work fine in the other recipes I've tried so far from this blog.
Can I use sunflower or
grapeseed oil here?
Not exact matches
I used
grapeseed but any vegetable
oil is great
here.
2 cups blanched almond flour — I use Honeyville brand, it works the best 2 cups rolled oats (not instant)-- certified gluten - free if you are intolerant 1 cup fresh pumpkin puree (canned will also work) 1 teaspoon baking powder 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup
grapeseed oil (olive
oil, melted coconut
oil or ghee would also work) 1/2 cup organic local honey (maple syrup would be great
here, too) 1 large farm fresh brown egg (or egg replacement of your choice) 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 3/4 cup raisins (dried cranberries or mini chocolate chips would also be delicious) 1 1/2 tablespoons flaxseed (optional)
Here are the substitutions I made: 3/4 teaspoon salt (since I used salted butter — that's all I had) 1/3 cup honey (I didn't have agave) 5 Tbsp salted Kerrygold butter (I didn't have
grapeseed oil) 1/4 cup shredded, unsweetened coconut (because I love coconut)
Just in case anyone else has to adjust based on available ingredients,
here's what worked for me: Used 3 dates and 1/2 cup honey instead of agave / yacon syrups and subbed coconut
oil for the
grapeseed.
lime peanut sauce ingredients: 1/2 inch fresh ginger, peeled + rough chopped 2 cloves of garlic, peeled + rough chopped 1 - 2 tsp sriracha (or other hot sauce you like) 2 tbsp peanut butter (or tahini, sunflower seed butter, almond butter etc) 1 lime, peeled + chopped 1 tbsp rice vinegar 2 tsp agave nectar 1 tbsp tamari soy sauce little scoop of extra virgin coconut
oil (optional, but I love the coconut fragrance
here) 1/4 tsp toasted sesame
oil 1/2 cup
grapeseed oil
I also have used a different combination of fats
here, substituting Earth Balance Organic Coconut Spread and canola
oil for the original recipe's buttery spread and
grapeseed oil.
You can get more information
here, but the gist is that your
grapeseed oil must be expeller - pressed, AKA cold - pressed.

We're all in favor of a nightcap, but
here's one that will do your skin some good: A special formula uses reservatrol (an antioxidant found in red wine) to firm and smooth lines, while
grapeseed oil, chamomile flowers, and lavender water calm and moisturize.
