Our pea
gravel patio way out in the back that we actually named because I am a romantic through and through.
We got a good start last fall with our new pea
gravel patio so it's going to be really fun to get back to it!
A couple of weeks ago I told you all about our plans for a new
pea gravel patio (including some great inspiration pictures).
We have a pea
gravel patio area in our backyard and we don't use it at all... I hope you aren't disappointed — I really wish we had gone ahead and put a cement patio back there... hopefully you will «inspire» me with your ideas!
And then we would also start out with our first major usable space, a large pea
gravel patio with a flagstone walkway around to the enclosed area for the pups.
The yard didn't have any structure at all to begin with, so last year we focused on adding shape, interest and function by creating a pea
gravel patio for our fire pit, a flagstone walkway, and designated some planting areas.
This tablescape and floral centerpiece probably look pretty complicated, but in all honesty it was so easy to do and the hardest part was bringing everything outside to the pea
gravel patio at the back of our property.

gravel patio near the middle of the yard, designed as an area for a firepit and furniture.
We also have a (small) patio area below our deck that I have envisioned as a pea
gravel patio oasis.
And because the couple primarily entertains on the
adjacent gravel patio, there is no need to force four or six seats around it.
The homeowners installed a simple pea -
gravel patio in a single weekend to create an area that's perfect for alfresco dining.

Last summer we created our own pea
gravel patio and it is just begging me for a tiny garden with pots and plants!
We did hire some help last year to create our pea
gravel patio and we are so glad we did!
We have added lots of wicker chairs, a wonderful BBQ, an outdoor heater and a firepit so we can enjoy the pea

But we didn't want to go to the trouble to install the pea
gravel patio and then STILL never go out there to use it.
We used our pea
gravel patio but you could use your cement patio, brick, stones, or other non-flammable surface.
Our goal this summer is to finish
the gravel patios by lining them with rock and plants.
We also got some beautiful plants at Lowe's to line our pea

I suddenly had visions of it engulfed in blooming vines this summer in my backyard, right at the edge of our new pea
gravel patio.
We decided the furniture would be great for conversation areas in the yard, so eventually I'll put
a gravel patio down below.
The gravel patio is nice for sipping cocktails or coffee and inside is a beautiful coastal oasis.
While we had made good progress in setting up our old backyard to be a great destination for family times, (and as much as I miss my special secret garden and
our gravel patio with the fire pit) I just know this yard is going to be even more wonderful for our family.
Gather together a selection of old lead planters to make a feature on
a graveled patio.
Last year we added the indoor / outdoor rug from Overstock (you can see last year's deck updates here) and lots of plants, but we took all of our deck furniture to the lower yard area for
the gravel patio.
After much deliberation we decided on a pea
gravel patio and couldn't be happier with the way it turned out.
An idyllic alfresco dining area has been created on
a gravelled patio area.
My husband texted me a picture of how
our gravel patio area was coming along.
It's amazing how defining an area (like
your gravel patio) suddenly brings everything else into focus (like your planting areas).
In our last house we built a firepit on our pea
gravel patio and it was one of those projects that instantly gave our yard more purpose and function.

It was pretty empty by the time I took this photo as we were moving, but I wanted you to see the flagstone walkway we had on the border of our pea
gravel patio.
Basically
this gravel patio project will provide space to hang out on the cool fall evenings (a rest zone) around a fire pit and a simple but more attractive zone to BBQ (eat) with friends and family!
I think
the gravel patio will be a perfect foundational part of our landscape that we can build upon with plantings or other elements over time.
While we didn't complete the yard entirely and it wasn't yet «perfect» (we still had plants we wanted to plant, and lots more rocks we wanted to bring in to finish lining
the gravel patios and walkway, among other things we had planned), I'm excited that at least you can see the vision we had, and see how far it had come!
Here, a small wooden pergola was constructed over
a gravel patio and enhanced with a teak seating arrangement.
We created
this gravel patio and made over this shed last year as a little coastal oasis.
