Regardless of whether the
day is
gray and
overcast or a beautiful blue sky, the blooms are outstanding.
For Line, the more pessimistic work, Frankenheimer deliberately avoided warm colours and timed all his outdoor scenes for
overcast days, so that the entire film is hued in muted blues and
grays.
I tend to think outdoor photos look best on a slightly
overcast day, but the last two weeks in Indiana has consisted of snow, rain, and
gray in April, so I've had no luck getting any pretty photos of scenic blue skies or budding flowers.
