In conjunction with National Novel Writing Month, the Los Angeles Public Library is proud to
spotlight some of our
great local
authors who have submitted their e-books to our Indie California
Feedbooks offers free public domain books, as well as original works from
authors uploading their books to the site -
great way to discover new reading from
authors who aren't necessarily in the
spotlight as yet.
Smashwords does a
great job of partnering with other sites to push the best sellers - who are already best selling and don't necessarily NEED a push (beyond the fact that everyone can always use more advertising), meanwhile there are midlist
authors who have no hope of hitting that best seller list (often because they were not traditionally published before, so didn't come with a fan base already established) and who have a
great book, with good reviews, who could really use the push /
spotlight.
We created the Kobo Writing Life blog at www.kobowritinglife.com in order to outline
spotlights on
authors, highlighting various things that they are doing, as well as to share information and insights about KWL, as well as the craft and business of writing (See Darcy's post about starting your novel on Kobo Writing Life blog here), so that's a
great place to keep your eye out for updated tidbits and info.
The
Spotlight includes an event page, top banner space, homepage above - the-fold blog space and outreach beyond RECTV to our partners such as Black Pearls Magazine and Between Your Sheets who also will feature your
author, book or series that same week for a huge push in promotion and a
great opportunity to reach new readers.
