The paintings in this series share similarities in palette (muted), brushwork (loose), and the placement of forms on the pictorial space, but a closer look reveals
great differences in tone and mood.

It is interesting to see simply because its more relaxed, less hyped
tone contrasts with the typical promotional TV special here
in the US, but there is
greater allure than just observing the cultural
differences.
As fine a film as this is, one can only wonder how
great Spartacus could have been had director Stanley Kubrick (2001, A Clockwork Orange), who was brought
in late due to
differences between star Kirk Douglas (Paths of Glory, Oscar) and the original director Anthony Mann, been allowed to alter the script, perhaps
toning down the rather high amounts of moralization, potentially diffusing the film's only weakness.
Yet the humble exhaust - mode button is the fundamental
difference between the cars
in microcosm: Hit it
in the E63 S, and the
tone changes from Tarzan to King - Kong; hit it
in the M5, and you're greeted with
greater peace and quiet.
