Don't watch this film expecting
a great film like the first two, although I wanted this to be a worthy sequel.
In 2009, Miramax and Paramount teamed up for a proper DVD release, a three - disc set worthy of
a great film like this.
Maybe it's because
a great film like «Broadcast News» was in fact made by those who came from news production, so there was an authenticity about that that made it genuine.
That term gets thrown around a lot — it's a very easy thing to say about

And while I'm enjoying
some great films like A Most Wanted Man and Ivory Tower (Alex Billington has enjoyed Whiplash and I Origins), there's still some films here that aren't up to snuff.

Actor Joel Edgerton («Warrior,» «Exodus,» «The
Great Gatsby») wrote, directed and stars in the
film, which is clearly reminiscent of similar thrillers
like «Fear,» «Fatal Attraction» and even Michael Haneke's fantastic «Caché,» but gleefully twisted enough to distance itself from the pack.

film a discernible personality beyond what exists in the script, and at best «Real Steel» feels
like a convincing argument that he's eminently capable of handling generic mainstream blockbusters.
It's really good, deserves respect for its treatment of the subject matter, and is a
great example of what I love about 70s cinema, but I just didn't get blown away by it, Maybe I just wasn't quite in the right frame of mind, or maybe I've just seen too many
films like this already, but I don't think it's quite as good as everyone else does.
Williams is a
great actor and gives creedence to even a bad
film like this, but even he can't save this one.
Characters that gave the earlier
films their spark - the eager - to - please Donkey, one of Eddie Murphy's finest vocal moments, the debonair Puss in Boots, a
great Antonio Banderas achievement - are wheeled on and off for what seem
like guest spots.
Sure Looper is reminiscent of the
great films mentioned up top, but it feels more
like conversation than theft.
Sure... it's not
great, and sure... it pales in comparison to far better sub-mariner
films like Das Boot, Crimson Tide and The Hunt for Red October.
It's difficult to measure the importance of a
film like this - and it's a relief that, besides being so relevant, this is such a
great movie.
After enduring crap
like Transformers 2 and GI Joe, it's good to be reminded what

great supporting cast with the
likes of Mary Steenburgen, who plays the yes wife.
«The Rock» is
great like he always is in
films like this, and the ending chase scene brings the goods, with a terrific supporting turn from Jon Bernthal as one of his workers who decides to help him out not knowing what he is getting himself into.
Studi, a
great actor who has a long career playing fearsome warriors in
films like Dances With Wolves and The Last of the Mohicans, is equally stoic but is given even less character shading.
