The views
of Alberta legal professionals on important current
issues in family law favour change and improving access to
justice to a
greater degree than those
of their counterparts in the rest
of Canada and are surprisingly at odds with Alberta's generally conservative
social values.
I find it predictable that women are more inclined to career paths that engage access to
justice, as women have reason to be more attuned to
social justice issues on a personal level... and have reason to find the traditional practice
of law unwelcoming and not amenable to supporting their lifestyle needs and interests / goals, which would explain a
greater interest in opportunities in access to
justice related work and organizations.
