It's great if it can also truthfully represent the book, but it's always better to use a powerful cover that doesn't quite represent the book accurately, but doubles your sales, than it is to represent the book accurately (a mistake most authors make) with a shitty cover crammed full of exact details and pictures and scenes and meanings that you can explain and talk about for an hour but nobody else gets (or even likes).

So whenever I hear the title, I think of that boat, the great El Caramelo Cinqo, and the music, Juan Luis Guerra's «Burbujas de amor,» the unseen threat of sharks and scorpions, how I couldn't tear myself from the book to reapply sunscreen, ending up with the cruelest sunburn of my life — I picture all of this long before I picture Scout or Boo Radley.

The book had some well drawn characters and in the movie in my head I was reminded of great pictures such as PAPER MOON and BONNIE AND CLYDE, it evoked that time / era... the 30's bank robbers who were glamorized as hero's... Anyway the book is fine and my only minor quibble is that it ends the way most Leonard books end, [edited by BookBrowse to remove plot spoiler]... But Elmore Leonards been doing this for more years then I have been alive and I've read every single page he ever wrote so as I say, these are minor quibbles.
