The plot is unintelligible and the repartee amongst a great cast lacks any impact or charm because it's not rooted in any meaningful story or character development.
Coleman's writing mimics Parker's, with short chapters, snappy repartee, and just enough action... Like all Parker novels, it is a great, fast read, recommended for all detective fiction fans.
