I was deciding what recipe I would share with you all here when I realized I had cleared
out almost all
of my vegetable
garden, save for two slowly yellowing eggplant stalks and some
greens.
The
green mole with chicken, prepared by chef Ian McCormick, sings spicily
of garden greens, cilantro, and tomatillo, and you should always keep an eye
out for fresh ceviche.
The town has public
gardens with roses the size
of a human head and a Tudor - style spa built next to the dead geothermal lake with a bowling

As I embark on growing my own
garden for the first time this year, I'm thankful for my friends like Julie
of Chez Artz and
Green Artz, Melissa at Nature Deva, Heather at A Mama's Blog, and Woman With A Hatchet, who all have more
gardening experience than me (and will hopefully help me
out if I need it — hint, hint).

Green roof installations are material handling puzzles, but when a music teacher felt well enough after her surgery to walk to the window, saw the surprising vegetation below instead
of a barren roof, and actually recognize the song laid
out below her; the entire project team knew they had helped create a wonderful healing
garden for patients.
The small space looks
out over the roof at the rest
of the building which has been turned into a walkable
garden space with a number
of green roofing systems that make it an extraordinary space in the middle
of the downtown.
What's more, our buildings can literally begin to come alive:

gardens not only suck carbon
out of the air, but they also can provide healthy local produce, can reduce storm water runoff, and can decrease the urban heat island effect.

garden to the friend who makes and sells sandals

We've set up a white card and our trusty photography assistant Spawn

garden on a weathered bench, framed against a backdrop
of green hosta leaves and an old fence — with the goal
of this arrangement to show the white as a true reference point and the rest
of the photo to show how a shifting white balance can really affect the overall color balance
