Hi Shakaye, so sorry but sadly I've actually never tried making
buckwheat flour before so I'm not too sure but I imagine that
grinding the
groats enough will make it form into a flour.
You may like getting unground
buckwheat groats, sometimes called kasha and
grinding them yourself (like in a coffee grinder or in a food processor or blender).
But it's called
buckwheat hot cereal — basically it's not the whole big, tough
groats, but
ground a little more fine so that you don't have to cook them.
I looked for them awhile back but couldn't find them at any of the big grocery stores we go to around here, so I settled for
buckwheat cereal, which is just the
groats ground down a bit more, but not all the way to flour.
You can also make cold grain salads and hot grain casseroles with the whole
groats, as well as bread and many other healthy baked goods with
ground buckwheat flour.
I think the preground flour is probably a bit stronger in flavor than if you
grind it yourself, so I will be getting some
buckwheat groats and
grinding them next time, just for a slightly milder flavor.

Add the rolled oats,

I'd read somewhere on the internet before that it was super simple to
grind the
groats into flour, and given that
buckwheat flour costs twice as much as
groats, I figured I'd just put my trusty blender to use and create my own
buckwheat flour.
Once you're done
grinding the
groats and have your
buckwheat flour ready, begin by pre-heating your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (180 degrees Celsius), and lining a cookie sheet with parchment paper or a silpat.

buckwheat flour?
The only way I have ever used
buckwheat groats is to
grind them into a flour for baking... so this really interests me!
We use raw
buckwheat groats and
grind them into flour.
But, if, like her, you don't care much for it, you can either try and find some raw
buckwheat flour or, do what she did and make your own by
grinding raw
buckwheat groats.
