"Ground chipotle" refers to dried and smoked jalapeño peppers that have been grinded into a powder. It is often used as a spice in cooking to add smoky and spicy flavor to dishes.

The only one I've made so far was your curry - lime flavor, but since I was actually looking for a chipotle - lime recipe, I substituted 1 teaspoon of chili powder for the curry powder and 1/2 teaspoon
of ground chipotle for the rest (maybe a tad more; i like spicy!).

And though my favorite flavor combination is to pair it with poppy seeds, a close runner - up is a slightly hot cracker with a smoky note, which is spiced
with ground chipotle chiles.
Possible variations include adding 2 - 3 tablespoons tomato paste (whisk it into the butter - flour mixture before adding the rest of the seasonings) for more of a tomato flavor, or 1 - 2 teaspoons
ground chipotle chili powder (just add along with the other spices) for a smokier flavor.

You'll need to pick up
some ground chipotle chile in the spice section of your market.
For the spicy marinade it's best to use
ground chipotle pepper (dried smoked red jalapeno) made by McCormick.
If you can't track down
ground chipotle, use ground cayenne pepper.

Substitutions for pimentón include hot paprika and New Mexican ground red chile, but for a better approximation of the smokiness of the pimentón, mix in
