about the business side of being an author (e.g., how Street Teams work, how to market a
book in a foreign language, podcasts that might be a good fit to have you as a
guest, etc.)-- Scouting for bloggers to send
book review requests to — Pitching to those bloggers and tracking responses — Formatting (and perhaps light editing) of
blog posts, or organizing content — Managing your Street Team Facebook group (posing questions to keep the group engaged, answering questions, sharing upcoming news, etc.)-- Creating box sets in Scrivener from individual novels — Moving works translated into a foreign language from Word into Scrivener — Scheduling tweets and Facebook posts (ones that don't require your direct input or engagement with your audience)-- Transcribing audio interviews or notes — For non-fiction authors, VAs can do an enormous number of tasks around webinars or other training you offer (e.g., planning and
booking the event, scheduling
guests, managing registration lists, dealing with the back - end technology, creating and proofing slide decks, sending out advance information packages to the trainees, and then sending out follow - up information to the trainees, etc..)
You don't know how much time I've wasted combing
blogs for your email address so I can contact you to ask a question
about your
blog, ask you to
guest blog, or ask you to participate in something that might help you with
book promotion.
Write reviews or articles on your
blog about books and movies your target readers would enjoy
Guest post on bigger
blogs with lots of traffic Tie your
book (or yourself) into local media.
I've got a
guest post up today on Jane Friedman's
blog about using KDP ads to sell
books on Amazon.
She links to a
guest blog post Welch wrote for her
about the initial seed of the
book, and she links to other discussions and reactions to the
book (including from an evangelical Christian).
Also tell us what you write
about on your
blog (your writing life, writing tips, writing instruction,
book reviews,
guest authors, etc.).
Although I have my first poetry
book to promote, I decided to make the «
guest» spots more
about having fun and creating an entertaining
blog post for the blogger concerned and for their readers.

blog visit.
It's
about finding the
blogs read by the people you wrote the
book for, and sharing information
about the
book through Q&A s,
guest columns,
book reviews, video chats, or other means.
I was surprised to discover through Google Analytics that one of my most popular

about how Bill O'Reilly managed to promote his Killing Lincoln
book while a
guest on «Saturday Night Live.»

In a
guest post on The
Book Designer
blog, Nina Amir writes
about consistency across social media platform as a way of establishing your brand.
Re-purpose an old
blog post, post reviews of your favorite or recently read
books, invite people in the publishing world other authors, illustrators, artists,
book marketing gurus to
guest blog for you, post excerpts from your
book and write something around the theme, post tips and ideas for writing inspiration, news
about you, a video or audio clip of you talking
about your present or upcoming projects, the possibilities are endless.
Kurt Willems: «My policy is that if a
book is something I'm interested in, but I can't read and either A) Write and endorsement for the back or B) Write a review on the
blog, I usually offer to give away my platform though either an interview or
guest post
about a theme in the
book.
My point is, I had an ah - ha moment when I read
about blog tours and
guest posts to market an author's pre or post released
book.
Doesn't mean I was happy
about it, and I'm still getting emails from fans wondering when the third
book is coming out: < P And this is after Goodreads giveaways,
blogs,
guest blogs, etc..
