A
gusset is an extra piece of elasticized material
on the inner leg.
Only issue I have are the stains
on the leg
gussets I haven't even been able to sun out.
It's hard to explain, but SoGreenBaby.com, a retailer in Toronto,
ON, does a great job saying, «
gussets are that little piece of fabric that hugs your baby's leg, just inside the diaper leghole».
Also, after the cloth diaper is
on, pull the leg
gussets out around baby's legs.
On a side note: I noticed that when I made these sizing adjustments for other brands and types of diapers, they stopped leaking as much too — even those without leg
gussets.
That said, I tried out the cover the way I normally use covers first: I adjusted the rise snaps to the usual height and put the cover
on both babies without adjusting the leg
gussets, being sure to snap the waist nice and snug.

on either side of the seam, resulting in a (roughly) 5»

on small diapers like this newborn cover, sewing
gussets in is a bit fussy, but it's definitely worth the effort if you can get the hang of it!
The organic cotton does tend to wear faster, especially
on the leg
gussets, but only after extensive long term use (but doesn't seem to effect function at all).

Parents have to remember to pull out the leg
gussets when putting the diaper
on the baby.
The only sign of wear is some slight discoloration
on the inner
gusset, which can not be seen when the baby is wearing the cover, and is not even really noticeable when he is not.
