The car mags all note the supposedly
gutless engine, but hey, it gets me up to speed just fine and I don't have any problem keeping up.

The 3.4 - litre
engine in the old Cayman S only managed 273 lb ft at a lofty 4500rpm and so the tall ratios often made it feel a bit
gutless in slower corners, or if the
engine wasn't quite on - song.

gutless even in sport mode, nothing as standard, if your used to a Ford or VW (no split seats, no ski slot, no heated mirrors, no leather wheel, no storage space, seat adjustment last seen on a Datsun 120y (yes I am that old) uncomfortable seats.
We haven't tried the entry - level version, but the 84bhp unit does feel a bit
gutless on faster roads so it's certainly worth opting for a turbocharged Ecoboost
engine.
