For those worried about the experience being tainted while playing in portable mode, I personally found playing in
handheld mode much easier on the eyes and smoother all round — and no less scary!

8 had a huge roster unlike any other MP game before and the boards were pretty okay, DS had a fun board and minigam selection, it was the best
handheld game for the DS (well one of the best) MP8 had pretty nice graphics and lots of
modes, why is this game getting so
much hate for some reason?
My Switch dock isn't even connected to my TV, and I pretty
much use it exclusively in
handheld mode.
That's fine for
Handheld mode, but not so
much for Tabletop, especially if you're playing a multiplayer game in a crowded room of people.
DX has been updated with brighter colors and crisper graphics, although this is a game that looks
much better in
handheld mode than docked.
In terms of battery life, a video presentation on display at the event showed that the Switch unit in
handheld mode can last between 2 and 6 hours, depending on how
much the system is being pushed.
In
handheld mode, you can certainly see grass and other things pop in as you move forward, and docked
mode doesn't push it out too
much further, but unless you fixate on it, it's not distracting.
The resolution is noticeably lower, looking to not be far above 720p, if at all, in docked, while
much lower in
handheld mode.
These types of games thrive on a
handheld environment, and it felt so
much better playing on the Switch when it was undocked than it did in docked
mode.
Beyond changing how titles are rendered from 720p in
handheld mode to (mostly) full HD while connected to your TV, there's not all that
much else the Switch's Dock does.
Handheld mode works just fine too, however I wouldn't opt for more than two players on the Switch's
much smaller screen.
