The Sunnyside Pet Healthcare Center features a modern surgical suite, capable of
handling most
surgeries,
and intensive care unit with the latest technology in monitoring
and support equipment, including the high quality
anesthesia.
If your veterinarian recommends
surgery, he or she will most likely perform presurgical blood tests to ensure your pet is healthy
and can
handle the
anesthesia and surgical procedure.
Through our unique externship program we are able to teach the basics: animal
handling, basic physical examination, basic diagnostics,
anesthesia, appropriate patient / surgeon prep, aseptic technique,
and soft tissue surgical procedures
and techniques (spay, neuter, possibly umbilical hernia repair,
and basic soft tissue
surgeries).
Your duties will include patient communication, record keeping,
handling and restraint,
and you will assist in
surgery, emergency care, treatments,
and administer
anesthesia.
Many of these little ones can not have shots or have bad reactions, are at high risk for
surgeries like spay
and neuter, do nt
handle anesthesia well, many have physical issues like luxating patellas
and collapsable tracheas... the list goes on
