happen in a birth center or at a homebirth... right?

happens, home hospital,
birth center --- full placental abruption
in labor.
I also have the benefit of knowing first hand what
happens in terms of lactation
in the hospital, birthing
center and home
births as I have had the good fortune of working
in all those settings.
You might wonder what
happens if you show up at the hospital or
birth center and say you're
in labor, only to be sent home.
I've thought about the possibility of this
happening to me and what I would do (I'm delivering with midwives
in a
birth center) and this was so helpful!
But that can only
happen if the midwives are proactive
in making sure that women with risk factors are not allowed to give
birth at the
center, if complications are correctly identified and not dismissed at «variations of normal» and if complications are acted upon immediately before they become full blown disasters.
So, if a water
birth is what is desired, the proper apparatus to make it
happen should be available and set up
in the home for a home
birth, or use the pools at a
birth center.
It's well worth investigating C - section rates, other intervention rates, and whether the hospital or
birth center is certified Baby - Friendly... All your decisions will make a difference
in how easily breastfeeding
happens.
I think that's a problem, and I am excited to see all that has been
happening in the research world over the last few years — the National
Birth Center Study II, the Home
Birth Consensus Summit, and the Institutes of Medicine
Birth Settings Workshop.

happening in my labor so that I was able to make it to the
birth center on time.
