scene in particular had me staring at two film critic colleagues
in disbelief, as if to say, «Is this really
happening?»
There are plenty of scares to be had here -
in particular one chase
scene that makes very good use of shadow and staircases - yet the impact of these
scenes is greatly lessened by the consistent visual and aural notes that reveal what is about to
happen before it
happens.
Rock and King manage to generate some charm together, but their romance is often lost amid easy fish - out - of - body jokes (there is not only one, but two,
scenes of Lance bumping to rap music, forgetting he's
in the form of a portly old white man) and boring subplots,
in particular one revolving around Wellington's scheming wife (Jennifer Saunders) and her lover (Greg Germann), who also
happens to be Wellington's right - hand man.
One
scene in particular will have arachnaphobes clawing out their eyeballs (that
happens too, by the way).
The sound effects breathe life into the world as you will hear nearby walkers, birds and flies, amongst a range of other sounds, while the music adds tension and ties
in perfectly to what is
happening at that
particular moment of the
scene to always set the appropriate mood.
