film in my book, and I was
happy to see it
getting a wide release after its success at Sundance this year.
As for Universal, its LGBTQ - inclusive
films were «Pitch Perfect 3,» «
Get Out,» «
Happy Death Day» and «Fifty Shades Darker.»
And while I was annoyed that one of my favorite characters of all time, the wizard Merlin, was not in this
film and instead replaced by a witch who everyone calls «The Mage» (Àstrid Bergès - Frisbey), I was
happy that we still
got to see some magic.
I am so
happy to hear the
film is
getting a wide release after playing at numerous
film festivals and receiving extremely positive reviews.
The Tale of the Princess Kaguya: Isao Takahata's
film, likely the last production by Studio Ghibli's two masters (Hayao Miyazaki's The Wind Rises lost to Frozen last year), probably has no shot at Best Animated Feature (How to Train Your Dragon 2 is the heavy favorite), but if it did somehow
get the prize, no win on Oscar night would make us
happier.
Though a PG - 13 slasher
film is like the equivalent of sex with clothes on, «
Happy Death Day»
gets around that hurdle by being less of a straight - up slasher and more of a darkly comedic murder - mystery that just so happens to involve a temporal loop and a knife - wielding masked killer.
I can't tell you how
happy I am that the
film itself
got so much recognition.

Even though Inglorious Basterds isn't my # 1
film of 2009 it makes me
happy inside that Tarantino is
getting so much love for his WWII fantasy

film telegraphs that it's unlikely to come to a
happy end, it keeps its options open about just how not -
happy things are going to
get.
I bet we'll
get more into The Force Hits the Snooze Button later this week, but I couldn't be
happier with the
film.
Perhaps that's why Blumhouse's namesake producer has taken ownership of the
film on posters and in advertising, heralding the latest release from the person responsible for
Happy Death Day and
Get Out, but the only favorable byproduct of conjuring this throughline in moviegoers» minds is making the former qualitatively look like the latter in comparison to how awful Truth or Dare actually is.
