They offer different underwater's seascape (wall, soft or
hard coral, boulders, sandy bottom) at different depth (from 10 to 40 meters.)
Here scuba divers will find great visibility and extensive soft and
hard coral gardens along with thousands of reef fish.
The island of Lembongan is home to some of the best
hard coral reefs around, plus there are some great manta ray encounters on offer.
The limestone is the best substrate for
hard coral.
The reef is predominantly made up of sea fans, small gorgonians, vase and tube sponges, some small
hard coral formations and grasses.
Instead, it posesses a tableau of
hard coral formations of staghorn corals, plate corals, table corals, mushroom corals and brain corals.
There is abundant healthy
hard coral along the shallow reef top and the steep drop off which is a wall covered in clumps of gorgonian sea fans and wire corals.
Mola Mola, manta rays, fields of pristine
hard coral and variable currents all add to the excitement.
As you slip beneath the calm clear waters it shows: expenses of unbroken
hard coral, great meadows of soft corals, populated by Fijian friendly fish and usually all above the 20m mark giving plenty of dive time and great natural light.
Our first dive site for the day was Melissas Garden with its extensive
hard coral garden.
The first dive was in Melissas Garden with its astonishing
hard coral garden.
El Barco (the shipwreck) that contains rock formations that suggest shipwrecks (but no actual shipwreck) that harbor
hard coral, sea fans, sharks, puffers, parrot fish, angel fish, and dozens of species of colorful, small tropical fish.
The top of the reef is a beautiful
hard coral garden, with stunning soft corals all along the wall.
Double tank dives via their spacious boat on the various dive sites on the fringing
hard coral reefs and scattered wrecks around the island.
The hard coral reefs start as soon as you are in water deep enough to get your face wet.
So
hard coral landscape might at first look a little lunar compared to the colourful seascapes presented by soft corals, but look carefully as it sustains its own colourful marine ecosystem.
As for the third dive we stopped by Friwinbonda and its wall covered in sponges and soft coral that continues along a slope that add to the mix
some hard coral, like tables, staghorn and elkhorn.
Very good fan coral growths on the wall and huge
hard coral heads on the top of the wall.

Visibility was reaching 20 m / 64 ft.. There was mild current and we had enjoyable dive around
hard coral garden.
Our first dive of the day was in the extensive
hard coral cover of Melissas Garden.
It is mainly
hard coral, with a high cover density.
Really nice
hard coral formations there and the Yap Cavern is actually a big cut into the wall with a whole bunch of huge coral heads and then you can swim through a maze and through tunnels with white sandy floor and you see a very large school of bumphead parrot fish in there in the morning and some really beautiful anemones and soft corals.
Four Wobbegong Sharks (with another pregnant one) were also seen hiding among
the hard coral.
Along the slopping reef, covered in
hard coral, the guests also spotted schooling Yellowtail Barracudas, Red Snappers and Giant Trevallies.
Huge gorgonians in vibrant colors, concentrations of acropora species, encrusted
hard coral and some soft species were all present.
The groups drifted along a wall covered in
hard coral and sea fans, observing schooling fusiliers, Red Snappers, batfishes passing by.
along a plateau densely covered by soft and
hard coral.
After a great dive to Salang Bay wreck we came back to the reef for our safety stop and to explore the fantastic
hard coral garden in the north of the bay just outside Dive Asia dive centre.
A kaleidoscopic floral garden of soft coral,
hard coral, sea fans, sea anemone, feather starfish; pink, purple, crimson red, and snow white, Shark Point could more aptly be called «Strawberry Fields».
The conditions resembled the previous dive and around the two pinnacles present on this big dive site, both covered in
hard coral and gorgonians, schooling Yellowtail Barracuda, Bumphead Parrotfish and fusiliers gave quite an impression, together with a couple of Giant Trevally and Spanish Mackerel.

Our first dive of the day happened in Melissas Garden, one of the archipelagos most extensive
hard coral garden, formed of species such as elkhorn, staghorn, elephant ear, and others.
Our following dive happened along the portion of a wall named Small Fish Country, due to the increased quantity of smaller reef fishes seen swimming in between
hard coral formations.
Colourful soft corals are mixed with
hard coral reefs where moray eels and scorpionfish hide.
At the base you'll find a variety of
hard coral formations in different places, and the walls are dotted with ledges where resting turtles are often observed.
Visibility may not always be great here because of the run - off from the Mekong River delta but the healthy waters has encouraged plenty of
hard coral growth and ample fish life.
Looking for critters among rocks and
hard coral, a few spotted included, among others, three Satomi Pygmy Seahorses and also a Lembeh Sea Dragon!
You'll also find a boulder,
hard coral slope and a stunning soft coral garden.
Obviously if you're at some of the sea mounts like Castle Rock and Crystal Rock, you wouldn't snorkel those but just where the liveaboards park right on the beach there's some very nice
hard coral gardens there.
The first dive was in Melissa s Garden, famous for its extensive
hard coral garden distributed around the shallow plateau area and hosting a lot of smaller fishes that use for shelter.
The Cook Island's main islands of Rarotonga and Aitutaki are surrounded by
hard coral fringing reefs, so though it might not be one of the top diving destinations, it has plenty of easy diving on coral reefs and even more relaxed snorkeling and diving inside the lagoon.
The fame comes from its topography as a colorful ridge runs west - east hosting soft coral, gorgonians,
hard coral and, with a gentle current, as it was the case during our dive, schooling fish.
This has to be one of the best dive sites in Asia for open water students or those who just like to dive in easy conditions a see the stuff of the underwater movies... from two shallow entry points on sandy bottoms the surrounding area is covered in
hard coral,, giant table corals, staghorn coral, cabbage coral ans many many many other
hard coral species thrive here, around twenty five bommies rise to about 5m which attract colorful fish galore, you can reach a depth of about 20m, but the best stuff is between 5 and 12m making it a perfect second or third dive of the day.
The variety of
hard coral is amazing.
Among
the hard coral, rubble and some rocks that formed an interesting topography, Reef Octopus, Pygmy Squid, nudibranchs, like the Nembrotha, Fimbriated and Yellowmargin Moray Eels were some of the highlights pointed out by our divemasters.
The fame of this dive site comes from the density and diversity of
the hard coral growth that populates its shallow waters, offering shelter for a considerable quantity of smaller fishes, like damselfishes, parrotfishes, wrasses, anthians and more.
As the divers reached the shallower part of the reef,
the hard coral garden and schooling fusiliers and surgeonfishes made for quite an impression and great ending to this dive.
The second dive happened in the all - world
hard coral garden of Melissa s Garden, where the density, diversity and length of
hard coral formations left our guests in awe.
Diving the sheltered area of the reef in order to avoid the stronger currents of this early morning, the guests were amazed by the extensive
hard coral garden that cover the shallow part of this dive site.
