And although Hurwitz and Schlossberg have admittedly peppered the proceedings with a handful of hilarious gags (eg Stifler finally gets his revenge on Finch for sleeping with his mother), American Reunion, saddled with a hopelessly sentimental third act, ultimately establishes itself as an overlong and underdeveloped sequel that could only be loved by
hardcore fans of the original film.

When it works, it works well enough, but it's doubtful that the many
hardcore fans of the
original Mike Nichols
film will out this quasi-sequel next the their copy
of The Graduate in their video libraries.

original overture has been rejoined to the
film for the first time in over 50 years, so this will be a main draw for
hardcore fans of the
film.
