It frequently seems that cloth diapering twins or higher orders of multiples would be so, so much
harder than cloth diapering one... or even having two in cloth of different ages.

hard water, as MOST of the USA does... I would avoid synthetic
cloth diapers like those brands like the plague, you will inevitably have stinky
diapers that take much more effort
than they're worth!

than cloth diapers which use up lots of energy and water to clean.
