The latter option of supporting that weaker
hardware will probably never happen for the same reason they canceled support for that
hardware in the first place; Sony doesn't want the service to eat into their PS4 (or PS5) console
sales.
It will surely move
hardware and software
sales for the WiiU, don't think it will outsell the PS4 or XboxOne though since it's their LAUNCH and already sold out.
It will sell a lot of software no doubt, but it'll boost
hardware sales for only a few weeks before PS4
sales return back to normal (I

Whilst I agree that Microsoft will not catch up in
sales of
hardware anytime soon I
do think that they made the right move with the One X. I bought both Xbox one and PS4 at launch and I would play every multiplat on PS4 due to the slightly better resolution / performance.
Nintendo doesn't even have a comparable online, yet are having record
hardware and software
sales.
That said, we don't anticipate Wii
hardware sales picking up à la the PS3.»
I'm calling right now this company goes software only as I don't see them investing on MORE
hardware JUST to LIMIT
sales.
