Bloggers get made fun of for using so many
hashtags, but the truth is they do actually
work, and from a follower standpoint, I love when I can
search a
hashtag (#yellowbag) and find something I really enjoy.
These
hashtags won't
work magic, but they will help you to connect with other authors who are also promoting their
works, as well as exposure your books to readers who are
searching these
hashtags for new books to read and new authors to connect with.
A cursory
hashtag search reveals that the
work hasn't exactly gone viral; nevertheless to attend during peak weekend hours is to risk having one's experience marred by camera phones.
I have
worked with a number of communities of practice where we agreed to a common set of
hashtags / tags and «attached» these to our blog posts, delicious tagging, forum discussions, slideshare presentations, youtube videos, etc... anything we «touch» / create on the web would get tagged... Therefore, when we
search the web for the common tag we get resources from multiple sources all related to the same subject.
