Have a before - bed routine that includes checking your schedule for the
next day, checking the weather forecast, and choosing your
clothes for the
next day.
The night before school, she and Bradley laid out his
clothes for the
next day and his mom
would ask, «Do you want to wear jeans or sweat pants?»
Be sure your tween lays out
clothes the night before, packs his or her lunch, and
has everything ready for the
next day.
I
had the foresight to leave our and the kids»
clothes for the
next day out, and our carry - on bags were just fine to manage the
next day needs.
In our house we
have a basic before bedtime routine of brushing teeth, laying out the
next day's
clothes, and reading for 10 - 20 minutes in bed before lights out.
This way you know where all the
clothes are and you don't spend precious time looking for that one shirt you
had in mind for the
next day.
Here's a tip that I THINK came from Elizabeth Pantley, that was a big epiphany for me:
have the kid wear his
next -
day clothes to bed the night before, with a pair of underpants over his nighttime Pull up.
Forgive the horrible selfie, I rarely even
have my picture taken, let alone attempt to do it myself, at the end of the
day... rocking Christmas fluffy sleep pants, but hey, that's life around here, I actually DID
have on nicer pants before that, but my last tally of pants I can wear outside the house is 3, so I do the best I can in order to make sure I
have clothes for the
next day.
If this is the case,
have the younger children choose their
clothes for the
next day before they take a bath, brush their teeth, and put on their pajamas.
A child might decide that if they don't pick the
clothes up they can not watch the TV or
have to do an additional chore the
next day.
This is for the slightly older twin set... When my twin cousins were little my aunt
would put them to bed the night before in their
clothes for the
next day.
Spend 20 minutes laying out your
clothes for the
next day and making sure you
have what you need for breakfast.
The thing that is tough, though — is given that my goal is 100 lbs down by 2/23 (my birthday)-- it is frustrating when I deviate slightly (
had one night where I ate quite a bit of carmel corn, and the
next day big stirfry with light soy sauce, etc)-- yet because I ate even more strict and cleaner than before for 11 straight
days before that (not one cheat
day, processed food or meal), I gained 14 — yes 14 — pounds in water weight that two weeks later I
have only lost 12 of, despite hitting the gym 6 times since, and continuing to eat stellar (no cheat - low sodium
days)-- Funny thing is, my
clothes are looser and looser --
The more adventurous you become with your
clothes, not only do you
have a great time, you also get a lot more use on every piece you own... who knows I might be going to bed in this slip dress tonight and then to work the
next day if I want, let's not even get started with the tracktop!
They even
have lockers in the back where you can store your workbag, a change of
clothes, etc., that can be messengered over to you the
next day!
The
next morning, we started out our
day by exploring the historic Plaza area, which
has a lot of boutiques for jewelry, accessories,
clothes, textiles, and other fashion finds.

While you still
have the energy and motivation, do whatever you need to do to set yourself up for success the
next day: make your lunch ahead of time, pack your gym
clothes, glance at your schedule, and organize your to - do list.
I once
had my bags lost just prior to a conference, where I
had to attend a Board Meeting the
next day in my airplane
clothes (which included jeans and a beetle - print t - shirt), scrubbed senseless with hand soap in my hotel bathroom sink the night before and dried with a hair dryer...
but she
had clothes in her car for the
next few
days, she said.

clothes I took away, and could tell me at 5 where she went wrong, why mommy did that, and how to make a better decision
next time which she decided was to not get everything out at once and just ask for help instead of refusing straight up and throwing a tantrum over nothing.
You can request that they set out their
clothes for the
next day the night before, so they don't
have to worry about it in the morning.
Make sure
clothes are laid out... dinner menu's are set... and my calender I go over to see what I
have for the
next couple of
days.
The best
day of the year is the
day it's warm enough outside to hang the
clothes and sheets outside on our balcony (and not
have to be tripping over drying racks whenever I
'd like to walk from one room to the
next!).
