Driver — The dummy's head was protected from being hit by any hard structures, including the intruding barrier, by a side curtain airbag that deployed from the roof and a side airbag that deployed from the door.

Head acceleration in each test from the roof rail hit was low.

Passenger — The dummy's head was protected from being hit by any hard structures, including the intruding barrier, by a side curtain airbag that deployed from the roof and a side airbag that deployed from the door.

Head accelerations from the sunvisor, roof, and grab handle hits were low.

Head accelerations from the A-pillar, sun visor, and roof rail hits were low.

These features are, of course, extraneous, but you get spoiled — as you approach with a cart full of groceries, in the rain, you hit the button for the tailgate, and by the time you get there, you have a nice, big roof over your head while you unload the cart.

Smeared greasepaint indicates where the dummy's head hit the A-pillar, sun visor, and roof rail during rebound.

Blue and white paint above the dummy's head indicates where it hit the roof rail, which had bent sharply as the A-pillar moved rearward.

Smeared greasepaint indicates where the dummy's head hit the B - pillar and roof rail during rebound.

Pink, white, and blue paint above the dummy's head shows where it hit the roof rail after rebounding from the airbag.

Head acceleration from the roof hit was negligible.

Those of average height or taller in terms of male adults will likely be more vocal in their criticism of the roof though, as it is all to easy to hit your head on the top of the door frame while climbing in.

Passenger — In each of the two tests with side airbags, the dummy's head was protected from being hit by any hard structures, including the intruding barrier, by a side curtain airbag that deployed from the roof (test of 2005 model shown).

Back - seat riders had better be young and / or small, though, as heads can easily hit the roof and elbow and leg space isn't much better.

As a taller person, I am constantly hitting my head on the roof of the car, and there is barely any leg space.
