Twelve bronze animal
head sculptures by Chinese artist Ai Weiwei are on display at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park.
Swanson is perhaps best known for his extravagant and licentious rhinestone - encrusted
animal head sculptures.
His paintings depict striated figures, influenced by the
bronze head sculptures first crafted in ancient Yoruba.
For drawings included in this exhibition - many never before shown - subjects vary from classic «Gunheads» to studies for unrealized abstract sculptures; from bound and entrapped male torsos to delicate line studies
for head sculptures.
The place has a rustic, slightly run - down, feeling countered by lots of colored lights, chalkboards full of bargains on bar food, specialty cocktails — most of which I wouldn't let anywhere near my Drink of the Week posts — and cartoonish
demon head sculptures mounted on the wall as if they'd been bagged in Nairobi by Colonel Blimp himself.
Each 30 - metre high
horse head sculpture is made from 300 tonnes of structural steel and designed by Scottish sculptor, Andy Scott.

Two shining examples of this approach are the playful food sculptures by Valerie Hegarty that are on view in Miami gallery Locust Projects «booth, and the cryptic, almost
grotesque head sculptures by Jennie Jieun Lee that New York's Martos Gallery is showing.

Nancy Grossman: Combustion Scapes coincides with Nancy Grossman: Heads on view at MoMA PS1 in Long Island City, from May 22 through August 15, 2011, a solo exhibition focusing on her
evocative head sculptures.
The striated figures in «The Prince's Red Serpent,» «The Prince's Decoration,» and «Blue Sovereigns» cite the
bronze head sculptures that were first crafted in the ancient Yoruba city Ile Ife and memorialized royal figures.
Thus, striping is sometimes necessary for spaniels and setters to emphasize
the head sculpture, neck and topline.
I agree that
the head sculptures WERE creepy.
And on the day I visited, Jaume Plensa's stunning «Echo»
head sculpture (above) was being installed and officially went on view May 29.
