Grains are the hardest foods to digest, after all, which is why nearly all gut
healing diets exclude them.

That's why they are
excluded on the GAPS (gut and psychology syndrome)
diet, an intensive gut -
healing diet which requires the removal of grains, sugar, and starchy foods, instead focusing on meat stocks and broths and probiotic - rich foods like sauerkraut and milk kefir.
In common with the GFCFSF
diet, these three
diets exclude gluten, casein and soy — at least initially — but sometimes allow their reintroduction in their fermented forms, depending on the stage of gut
healing and individual sensitivities.
Note that gut
healing diets such as the GAPS protocol
exclude all starch from the
diet temporarily while the intestinal wall
heals and seals.
Most of the alternative health information that I have come across on
healing adrenal fatigue recommends minimizing or
excluding carbohydrates from your
diet.
While I love the internet and love to receive and share people's success stories of
healing their Hashimoto's, I've seen an unfortunate side effect of these success stories... I've had too many clients who have heard of others who
healed themselves with exclusion
diets and bone broth, get stuck in thinking they need to
exclude more and more foods while their health continues to decline and they beat themselves up for not being «strict» enough on their «
healing diet.»
Nor is it recommended for those on gut
healing diets such as GAPS, SCD, AIP or other temporary dietary approaches like the 21 Day Bone Broth Diet Plan that
exclude or greatly limit carbohydrate consumption.
The basic plant based
diet can then be adjusted to include /
exclude certain plants to supplement the body's
healing process.
By
excluding certain foods from your
diet for 30 days (in short: detoxing), you can reverse the negative impacts your bad food habits had and
heal your body from problems and complications you may not have realized were being affected by food consumption.
