I don't know that I have one signature dish, perhaps a signature
type of dish; I like to combine fresh vegetables, legumes,
cheeses, and whole grains to create endless combinations
of hearty and
healthy salads.
The result is four different
types of healthy grilled
cheese that taste just as good as the original and deliver benefits too.
The
healthiest choices are eggs, chicken / turkey breast, beef, any
type of seafood, cottage
cheese and Greek yogurt.
A few
of these are food «groups» but since I often see foods like pizza or mac and
cheese (which contain multiple ingredients) on these
types of lists, I figured
healthy food groups would qualify.
That's why I enjoy ONE cup
of daily coffee, ONE (or occasionally two) cups
of daily red wine, one or two cups
of a variety
of teas daily, ONE serving
of a leafy greens salad each day, Nightshade vegetables like tomatoes and peppers a couple times a week, the
healthiest types of aged
cheeses a few times a week, and even the occasional dark beer... and I know that these are generally doing a body good... PLUS, they're just really enjoyable and a fun part
of life!
That said, the
type of fat you eat is important, so choose foods with
healthy unsaturated fat (fish, nuts, and most plant oils), limit foods high in saturated fat (butter, whole milk,
cheese, coconut and palm oil, and red meats), and avoid foods with trans fat altogether.
Most
types of cheese from all animals (including goats and cows) are nontoxic to hamsters, so you don't need to scurry off to the vet if you've already let your pet have a bite, but they are not the
healthiest of foods.
