If anyone else is feeling the same way here is the changes I made to the recipe: I put
a heaped teaspoon each of the turmeric and cumin, 1 / 8th of a teaspoon of Cayenne pepper (I would have put a 1/4 or 1/2 teaspoon, but my family doesn't like spice so I reduced the cayenne quite a bit.)
