heard by a grand jury.

by a police officer in July.
Garner's case is being
heard by a Staten Island
grand jury and Brooklyn District Attorney Kenneth Thompson is investigating Gurley's shooting death.
It is filed
by the District Attorney with a superior court when a defendant waives his or her rights to a
grand jury hearing.
