Since I was completely in the blue about how
home births worked, nor had I
heard any success
stories from friends / family, I want to provide this option for those who know / trust me.
Of course there was great deal of «well, if you had the baby at
home none of this would have happened» from many friends an acquaintances... and complete strangers who had
heard my
story second hand as a cautionary tale about hospital
birth.
Instead, I (mostly)
heard horror
stories of traumatic
births, shared in painful detail, all meant to try to persuade me into having a
home birth instead of a delivering in a hospital with doctors, nurses, and access to pain medication.
How many
stories have we
heard of
home births where the baby's heart tones were all well and good for most of the delivery, until they checked at one point and suddenly just weren't there any more?
I had rarely
heard a normal
birth story until my early 20's when a girl at my church gave
birth at
home (on purpose).
From personal experience and
hearing the
stories of many mothers in my city who have done either or in some cases both hospital
birth and
home birth it seems to me that the majority, if not all, said they preferred the
home birth.
As awesome as her experiences were, if you are like me, Jessicca's
home birth story may be hard for you to
hear about.
I just
hear of so many more positive
birth and beyond
stories when babies are born at
home.
In this show we interview tons of moms and families on their
home birth stories, and so we thought we'd switch things up a bit for Mother's Day and
hear about how each of us came into the world from the women who ushered us earth side.
