dog story at the
heart of Argo and it's a pity it couldn't be
rescued from
of all the sort -
of, kind -
of, inspired - by conventional trappings.
I have first - hand experience
of the beautiful friendship that can be formed when someone chooses to open their
heart and their home to a
rescue dog.
As our shelter escort took us back into the kennels, they remarked about certain
dogs they were glad
HEART had been able to
rescue and questioned the status
of other animals that were waiting for a sponsor and a
rescue to be available, because their time was running out.
Animal Friends is near and dear to my our
hearts because this is where we
rescued one
of our
dogs from and the experience was exemplary for what a
dog rescue shelter should be.

of these
dogs.
Dozens
of darling and dashing Little New Yorkers, including cats,
dogs and, yes, even rabbits from more than 15 area animal shelters and
rescue groups, will be wiggling and wagging their way into the
hearts of New Yorkers who are looking to add a family member or two this spring.
I began photographing
dogs at Pawmetto Lifeline last year after discovering Pawmetto Lifeline through a good friend
of mine who sponsored a
dog on PawmettoLifeline's
HEART Rescue Collaboration program.; I sponsored one too and then asked how I could use my photography to join the cause and continue to help.
In writing the forewords for both books, I shared the stories
of my own puppies and kitties, including Daisy, the spunky little white
dog who's stolen my family's
hearts after we
rescued her from a shelter and gave her a second chance at life.
Applications that are qualified to be a good fit for a particular pet are subject to a home visit by authorized representatives

It's Friday morning and Dawn Kemper, co-founder
of Young at
Heart Senior Pet Adoptions in suburban Chicago, is running a mile a minute, multitasking, seeing to every detail as she readies the rollout
of the
rescue's new program, Club Grand Paw, the latest embodiment
