I recently found an awesome new cobbler who fixed them up with
new heel tips; he also suggested that I reinforce the soles on my next visit to keep them going for a few more years.
They needed
new heel tips, a shine, and the heel coverings repaired.
They're adorable... BUT after one wearing,
the heel tip came loose (my shoe repairman fixed it for free) and the material over the toes, which is white, was really dirty.
The heel tip is molded, probably a combo of rubber and plastic.
I think there are
heel tips you can buy to help but they look a bit silly (IMO).
Because I walk at least half a mile every day as part of my commute they get scuffed, the heels get caught in sidewalk cracks and tear or gouge, and
the heel tips of my high heels get worn down.
I get
the heel tips replaced on my shoes about once every two years.
I recently did throw away a pair of shoes (
heel tips were worn down, soles were trashed, leather was ripped) and I STILL felt bad about it.
My most expensive pair of shoes needs to get
the heel tips replaced about once a year.
