heels on a cobblestone road.

I haven't been wearing them as much as I should (mainly because it's too cold for them, and they're not very good
on cobblestone as the
heel gets stuck in the cracks), but I think they add such a cute pop to any outfit.
On another note, I'm finally able to navigate the
cobblestone streets in my
heeled booties without almost breaking my ankles every few steps.
They provide a bit more stability than
heels on tricky surfaces (
cobblestones and grass as the two main offenders), and are definitely more comfortable for long wear (and I've been wearing this pair a ton lately!).
I'd packed a few pairs of «cute» shoes (ballet flats, and
heels of various heights) and quickly realized the difference between running - errands -
on - lunch - hours - comfortable and walking - all - day -
on - various - surfaces - including - gravel - and -
cobblestones - comfortable.
Walking
on cobblestone in
heels isn't ideal, that's for sure, but there is a technique I mastered when I was young.

I tend to burn through
heel pads and pointy toes regardles of how careful I am
on NYC's
cobblestones and uneven sidewalks.
It's almost impossible to look sober walking
on cobblestone in
heels (ironically, after attempting said walk, I typically need a drink).
No way was I going to struggle walking
on cobblestone in 4 inch
heels.
It almost seems like you can hear the boot
heels of the past
on its
cobblestones, or spy the ghost of a Quaker peering out the tiny window of a half - cape, or see in the harbor the masts of ships, or dream of life in one of the fabulous Gilded Age «cottages»
on Bellevue Avenue.
