IndieReader is poised to become part
of this «vast sea change in
publishing:» Victoria, while you say the «indie» term doesn't faze you too much - it bus the
hell out of me!
No matter who
publishes your book, it's up to you as the author to promote the
hell out of it.
That is what self -
publishing has changed, and that is what annoys the
hell out of those who thought they held the keys to this privilege.
Yet despite the clear advantages
of «indie» over «traditional»
publishing, the prospect
of «DIY»
publishing still scares the
hell out of many writers.
It's a
hell of a shame, because there are just as many good self -
published books
out there.
If Amazon could encourage hybrid authors to ditch their publisher, sign up with them and Amazon will promote the
hell out of them online and in their Amazon Books retail stores, suddenly Amazon
Publishing is more attractive.

With ebooks, there is no need to be a «best - seller»
out of the gate or be consigned to mid-lister
hell, no competition for limited shelf space, and no remaindering or going
out of print (which
of course most publishers use mostly as an excuse to hold on to
publishing rights forever).
If that author self -
publishes the same novel, including rigorous editing and design, then markets the
hell out of it, it might stand a better chance.
