A detailed comparison of gene expression signatures between ETP ALL tumors and and normal
human hematopoietic progenitor cells revealed a somewhat surprising finding: ETP - ALL expression patterns were less consistent with early T - cell precursors, as might have been expected, but more similar to the expression profile of normal hematopoietic stem cells and granulocyte macrophage precursors.
Thrombopoietin (TPO) addition at day 11 aimed to
boost hematopoietic progenitor cell (HPC) formation and megakaryocytic lineage commitment, and by day 14, 30 % of the hematopoietic cells released into suspension from the EBs expressed multiple megakaryocytic markers.
However, more recent analysis by Chang et al. [25], [26], Mansonn and colleagues [27], and Huang et al. [28] have studied
multipotent hematopoietic progenitor cells and characterized metastable states within the population that fluctuated in their transcriptional program.

Bone marrow - derived mononuclear cells (BM - MNCs), a cell population comprised of
hematopoietic progenitor cells, lymphoid cells (lymphocytes, plasmatic cells), monocytes, and macrophages.
