As in all LEGO games the story levels are filled with
hidden bonus items to find that aren't necessary to complete the level, some of which will require the special skills of characters that aren't available on the first play through giving completionists motivation to replay the story levels and extending the life of the game.

Collecting every single
hidden item, exploring each secret level, and finding all of the little
bonuses left throughout each zone is a lot of fun to do and never once does it feel like you're putting in hard time just to earn a little something extra.
As soon as players start there are
hidden areas available, and further travel will (or should) reveal underground passages, collectable
items, multiple paths and
bonus mini-games that are available in every level.
Another notable change is that the
bonus stages are entered at the end of each level only after collecting a
hidden planet - shaped
item in each of the two stages; it is played for points and star - collecting, a feature unique to this version.
Within each normal stage is a
hidden entrance to a
bonus stage where the player tries to grab a special
item and possibly get a continue.
Additional
items can be purchased at Funky Kong's shop, which includes
bonuses from additional health to temporary invisibility to Squawks the parrot, who helps locate the
hidden puzzle pieces.
But each stage also houses three diamonds — which you'll need to unlock more levels — as well as a
bonus objective (finding a
hidden item, collect a set number of coins, use a minimum of a stage's trinkets, etc.).
This somewhat linear campaign has several

bonus items like collectible red LEGO bricks.
Along the way Dana can acquire
items to upgrade his firepower and extra lives as well as
