It's like a small scared child in a dark room claiming there is some monster out there in the darkness so you turn on the lights to show him there is no monster, but he just get's more scared claiming the monster must have
hid in the closet or
under the
bed or anywhere you havn't yet looked, and when you do look and show them nothing is there it doesn't make them relieved, they get more upset
because they now believe the monster is super fast or invisible or can teleport,
because they know it's there, they can just feel it!
It made me wonder if perhaps the Thing that was on the planet Midnight was one of the Things that was
under the
bed /
hiding but it had been exiled
because it was no longer
hiding well, it was stealing voices.
