In this study,
researchers Rhoades, Stanley, and Markman found that women whose parents had
divorced had lower levels of relationship commitment and confidence as well as
higher parental
conflict.
The
researchers found that children who experienced
high levels of family
conflict (not
divorce)-- parents fighting, worrying about money, abuse, etc. — were likelier to get
divorced as adults.
