In Turning Points 2000, Jackson and Davis (2000) recommended that professional development should focus on «curriculum, instruction, adolescent development, classroom management, assessment, service learning, interdisciplinary teaming, and parent involvement» (p. 114) to

When I work in schools, one of the most important roles that I have is to support the work of professional learning communities; teachers collaborating to create
the highest levels of learning for students.
It means interrupting patterns of behavior, policies, or structures that hinder our ability to achieve our primary purpose:
