The fuel cell cars will take care of
the high milage high energy sector where batteries face realy hard issues and together they should squeeze the middle fairly well to hopefully drop our need for oil quickly enough.
I think
the high milage achieved in the pre-season testing (even if it did involve regular changes in the engines) will have been a huge moral booster.
A less common issue but still something to consider especially on
higher milage vehicles is excessive crankshaft end - float, as excessive axial movement in the crank will at least exaggerate any vibration or run - out in the clutch mechanism or flywheel resulting in judder.
Attempts at demand reduction and increased efficiency seem to deliver slim savings and these are often cancelled, for example, by people choosing higher comfort levels or just doing
higher milage in their more efficient cars.
