a higher input voltage, should you ever get ambitious and change the system voltage to 24 or 48 volts.

voltage, where «
high» and «low» are defined regarding the reference

high if the output
voltage is
higher than 1 millivolt, and low if the
voltage is less than 1 millivolt.
Having a robust, wide
voltage range,
high power
input is an important feature when using alternative power sources.
