higher than other public schools.

other staff are substantially
higher for the traditional, unionized
public schools compared to charters, which offer their employees 401ks rather
than more generous defined benefit plans.

other public functions exist, such as health, transportation, and
higher education, that make large and urgent claims on the budgets of state governments; that problems
other than a lack of money afflict the
schools, such as students who arrive unprepared for learning or life in a classroom; and that evidence for the efficacy of money per se is at best mixed.
To find out, we at the Harvard Program on Education Policy and Governance have asked nationally representative cross-sections of parents, teachers, and the general
public (as part of the ninth annual Education Next survey, conducted in May and June of this year) whether they support or oppose «federal policies that prevent
schools from expelling or suspending black and Hispanic students at
higher rates
than other students.»
Faculty compensation in college, unlike
public high school, is also influenced by market demand for those faculty members, so people in some fields are paid significantly more
than others and outside offers are sometimes matched.
But even within
public school districts, some
schools have much
higher turnover rates
than others.
Consequently, charters proudly enroll
higher percentages of black and Hispanic children
than other public schools, and a growing body of research underscores their success.
Still
other researchers with national credentials report that low - income voucher students in Milwaukee graduate from
high schools at
higher rates
than do
public school students.
The study found that deeper learning
public high schools graduate students with better test scores and on - time graduation rates nine percent
higher than other schools, a win for teachers and students alike.
Each of these results is statistically significant at a very
high level, meaning that we can be highly confident that the test - score gains made by
schools facing the actuality or prospect of voucher competition were larger
than the gains made by
other public schools.
No matter what grade levels are served, a
higher proportion of charter
schools is smaller
than other public schools.
The sometimes - D
schools experienced year - to - year changes in FCAT math scores that were only 2.4 points
higher than all
other Florida
public schools, significantly less
than the gains in both voucher - eligible and voucher - threatened
schools.

schools are already held to
higher standards
than other public schools in many respects.
A report by a Washington think tank about a California virtual charter run by the company found a series of problems, including dramatically lower test scores
than traditional
public schools, startling
high dropout rates, questionable attendance figures and a host of
other problems.

school operators to heel for serving Black and Brown children well, even to their historic disdain for Black families and condoning of Jim Crow discrimination against Black teachers, both unions have proven no better
than outright White Supremacists when it comes to addressing the legacies of bigotry in which American
public education is the nexus.
