First off, the term «hit a list» can mean
hitting a bestseller list at any point of entry, including the bottom 100.

So, I was thrilled to find out today that Tom Rachman's The Imperfectionists is
hitting the New York Times
Bestseller list at # 13 this Sunday.
The first of her Cat Connolly thriller trilogy LITTLE BONES was published in May 2016 and

bestseller list, spending 8 weeks in the Top 10 with 4 weeks
at No. 1.

at least 10 major benefits of running an Amazon book launch campaign, including how it helps you sell more books long after the
bestseller campaign is over, to getting approached by foreign publishers looking to do editions of your book in other languages (this has happened to several indie authors I know, after they
hit the
bestseller lists on Amazon).
See, there is a world of difference between someone buying 10,000 books and dumping them into a landfill just to
hit a
bestseller's
list so they can command better speaking fees or consulting gigs, from the hard working speakers who can genuinely sell a lot of books
at the bulk sales level and get no recognition for it.
In a convincing post
at The Bookseller, Scott Pack, publisher of The Friday Project, an imprint of HarperCollins, notes that the lack of e-book sales integration into the UK
bestseller lists cases a «whole host of problems,» not the least of which is that it might undermine a books ability to
hit the
list.

If your book hasn't

bestseller list, or
at least come close, any press release about it is only headed in one direction: right into the trash can.
The book starts in
at # 7K - # 8K, and with the sale, usually
hits its genre's
bestseller list rapidly, and hots top 2000 rank by the sale's second date.
Now, after an algorithm shift, those free downloads don't help your paid ranking as much, so unless you
hit the top of the free
list with a massive number of downloads (probably
at least 20,000), it won't place your book very high on the paid
bestseller lists.
Mainstream - pubbed novelists whose books don't
hit the NYT
bestseller list will find their books removed from first - string brick and mortar store shelves within 4 months (usually less), and then those authors are in the same boat as their self - published brethren who never opted for brick and mortar distribution
at all.

This is purely based on the fact that indie ebook authors
at hitting the national
bestseller lists every week, so it's only natural that more of these books find their way to stores.
